An Ocean Apart
Larry David Performs Jewish Hate Crime

In the October 25, 2009, episode of “Curb Your Enthusiasm” titled “The Bare Midriff,” Larry David urinated on an image of Jesus the Christ. Only a person of such a cultured background would fail to perceive the difference between an image and the spiritual reality he lacks. After all, they pray to an old wall. His infantile act shows us again the vast difference between Christianity and the people whose own sacred texts define them as idolaters. As an ethnic Jew who converted a long time ago and regularly preaches in the Church, I want to say Larry David that he is pardoned if he repents sincerely. Jesus taught (Matthew 18:15-17): Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother. We must not forget Apostle Paul had been a Pharisee full of hatred; he persecuted the Church prior to his conversion. If he shows repentance, I volunteer to accept Larry David to my congregation and to oversee his conversion. These are the Teachings. In sharp contrast, what is the Jewish position? Anybody heard of “Hate Laws?” These are pushed by Jewish communities around the world. Why do they not apply to a Jew inciting hate and contempt against his neighbor? After all, the inverse argument was used in 2006 by the American Jewish community against the Presbyterian Church after the latter decided on a disinvestment policy towards Israel, following the brutal assassination of Rachel Corrie by the IDF. This was supported by the State of Israel; the proof is that the assassin is still free despite his identity being known. Moreover, can a Christian urinate on a copy of the Talmud—a book preaching the violation of little children—on American television? Yet, in the American society of the 21st century this article would probably be tagged as hateful against Jews. If I were in the US, I would probably be prosecuted and persecuted for it. The modern version of the Pharisaic Judaism doctrine is based on the hatred of the other. This week we were reminded of that again, yet in such a clumsy way that I can’t help but pity Larry David. The truth is clear. Hate laws apply only against Christians criticizing Jews. Jews offending Christians are exempt. I’m being persecuted (including assassination attempts; yesterday I was told the damage to my throat due to the July attack against me is permanent) for trying to publish a book criticizing Judaism and Israel and making a strong case for conversion. They are an ocean apart, and should be treated as heathens. |
